I lost my father James Fary, and my mother Nicole in the last few years. I felt very lost and often didn’t know what to do and what I could let myself feel. I want to do right by my children - show by example that death is a normal part of life, and discussing it is not something to fear or avoid. The ideas for this project slowly evolved from reflecting on these losses, and discovering the work of the death positive movement.

Simone is both an instructional designer and documentary filmmaker, and has found that working in each field enriches her skills in the other. Previous projects include

• Co-produced/Directed Sensei Fran Kicks Ass which screened at 19 film festivals.

• Produced/Directed The Life of Cheng Se Tseo in His Own Words, which aired on two Pennsylvania public TV stations.

• Co-Produced American Feud and Confounding Father.

• Produced/directed a series of short instructional films for Afghan and Iraqi refugees.

• Designed/produced/wrote/edited two explainer animations - Academic Appointments and What is a CV?

• Researched, produced and found archival images for A History of Higher Education.
